The Centre for Policy Scrutiny (CPS) will on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, present a comprehensive policy paper on the government’s 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review, offering an independent assessment of the Finance Minister’s statement and its implications for Ghana’s economy.
The presentation will be led by the Centre’s Executive Director, Dr. Adu Owusu Sarkodie and Labour Economist, Dr. Prince Adjei, who are expected to interrogate the government’s fiscal performance, policy direction and the credibility of the economic projections contained in the Mid-Year Budget Review presented to Parliament by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
A statement issued in Accra and signed by head of Corporate Affairs at CPS, Mr. Kweku Obeng-Adjei said the event, which will be streamed live on the Centre’s Facebook and YouTube platforms is expected to bring together economists, policy analysts, academics, civil society organisations, members of the media as well as the general public to examine the country’s fiscal outlook and the effectiveness of measures announced by the government for the remainder of 2026.
“The paper will provide an evidence-based evaluation of key areas of the budget review, including revenue mobilisation, expenditure management, public debt, inflation, economic growth and the government’s broader fiscal strategy” he said.
The presenters are also expected to assess whether the policy measures announced by the Finance Minister are sufficient to address prevailing economic challenges, stimulate private sector growth and place the economy on a sustainable recovery path.
The policy dialogue comes at a time when the Mid-Year Budget Review continues to dominate national discussions, with economists and political actors offering differing perspectives on the government’s assessment of the economy and its plans for the second half of the year.
