The Deputy Minister of Information, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akropong constituency in the Eastern Region, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah – Adjei has donated over 100 bags of Flour to bakers in the area.
The donation forms part of her usual supports to the women to aid them in their activities in this coronavirus pandemic era.
At the presentation ceremony which took over at Akropong on Monday, where almost all the bakers in the constituency gathered to receive the flour of 5kg per bag, Nana Ama Dokua noted that she took upon herself to help the women with the flour at free of charge to support them.
The Deputy Minister of Information explained that in one way or the other they are looking forward to touching human lives and she is of the view that it is the turn of bakers and for that matter, donated bags of the flour to them.
According to her, she had held several meetings with bakers in the area to discuss how they can support them and has disclosed they have been able to provide individual assistants with some people.
She said, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, some people requested for flour and that, thought it wise to turn their plea into a social intervention program rather than donating to individuals who asked for.
Nana Ama Dokua affirmed it will affect the cost of their product that will be sold to the constituents, adding that since she has touched food vendors it will affect everyone positively especially people who patronize their food items.
The Akropong Member of Parliament wards off assertions that she is presenting the items to the people to seek for votes in the upcoming general elections slated for December, indicating that she has been doing involved in donations since time immemorial having supplied fertilizers and others to farmers some time ago.
“We are recontinuing with our work and my target group is that of the professional groups. So day in day out i meet with different professional groups from time to time and this is one of such meeting that has occurred. Someone can interpret everything that it is vote buying but as we speak, I’m still their MP so i have to deliver” she emphasized.
The Beneficiaries who received the flour in a cheerful manner expressed gratitude to the Legislator for her kind gesture and also being committed for coming to their aid in this pandemic crisis.
They promised to cast their votes for her and President Akufo – Addo coming 7th December general elections.
