The Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Paul Apraku Twum Barimah, has commended the Managing Director of GCB, Mr Kofi Adomako and his management for the endurance and quality leadership skills that have positioned GCB and made it the leading and most profitable universal Bank in Ghana.
He commended GCB for posting profits of GHS 333 million in the first half of this year 2023, compared to the sum of GHS 306 million realised in the first half of 2022, describing the performance as a very laudable one that deserves recognition as a positive indicator of Ghana’s economic outlook.
Honourable Twum Barimah applauded GCB for posting a return on equity of 21.7 % in 2022, despite the challenging microeconomic environment and its associated global economic pressures.
He congratulated shareholders of the Bank on agreeing to allow the raising of an additional capital of GHȼ1.0 billion to, Meet regulatory capital adequacy ratio requirements, Enhance the bank’s deal-making capacity and take advantage of opportunities available to the Bank while preserving the bank’s core strengths, Strengthen access to funding markets and bolster confidence in the bank; and Support targeted and prioritized investment in digital transformation and ultimately help to drive the bank’s business strategy.
Honourable Twum Barimah who is also the member of the mines and Energy committee assured the MD of GCB and the management team that he would do everything with the support of the Finance Minister, Parliament and the government to provide the needed support for GCB to continue to soar and make profit.
