Business magnate and philanthropist Dr. Daniel McKorley was honoured with the title *”Most Influential Entrepreneur of All Time”* at the 15th Anniversary and Awards Ceremony of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana (EFG), held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel on Friday, 1st August 2025.
The prestigious award recognizes decades of entrepreneurial excellence, job creation, industry transformation, and national impact by the Founder and Executive Chairman of the McDan Group of Companies—a Ghanaian conglomerate with operations in logistics, aviation, shipping, construction, mining, salt, agribusiness, and real estate.
Dr. McKorley joined an illustrious list of award recipients that evening, including:
* Naa Prof. Edmund Nminyem Delle, CHIIR VIII of Rabito Clinic
* Dr. Paul Kofi Fynn, Chancellor of Wisconsin International University College
* Dr. Mrs. Kate Quartey-Papafio, CEO of Reroy Group
* Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, CEO of Special Group of Companies
* Ms. Esther Cobbah, CEO of Stratcomm Africa
* Mr. David Osei-Amankwah, CEO of David Walter Ghana Ltd., among others
In his acceptance speech, Dr. McKorley expressed gratitude to Mr. Sam Ato Gaisie, the visionary founder of the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Ghana, for his consistent work in celebrating Ghanaian entrepreneurship and building a strong ecosystem of business leaders.
He reflected on his humble beginnings and acknowledged the challenges many entrepreneurs continue to face. “I came from very little—but what I had was a dream and a deep belief that Ghana is a land of opportunity,” he said. “Yes, it’s tough. But I’m happy to be in Ghana, to work here, and to believe that the future I hold for this country will surely be fulfilled.”
He encouraged business leaders and young Ghanaians to remain brave, resilient, and hopeful, describing Ghana as a land full of possibilities for those willing to take bold steps. “If you want it, fight for it. Ghana is waiting for you to rise.”
In a lighter moment that drew laughter and admiration from the audience, Dr. McKorley was asked why he stood at the edge of the stage to help his female staff climb up to join him. With a smile, he responded, “I’m a romantic man—and my disposition has always been to serve.”
Dr. Daniel McKorley is a visionary entrepreneur and the Founder of the McDan Group of Companies, a leading Ghanaian conglomerate operating across diverse sectors, including shipping, construction, aviation, and agribusiness. Under his leadership, the group has established a significant global presence, with operations in 2,400 ports worldwide.
Dr. McKorley holds a Diploma in Leadership from Lehigh University, a Bachelor of Science, and an Executive MBA from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, along with an honorary Doctorate from the London Business School. He is the first Ghanaian to own and operate a private jet terminal and oversees Africa’s largest salt mine.
A passionate advocate for community upliftment, he founded the McDan Foundation, focusing on education, sports, and youth entrepreneurship. His recent initiatives, like the McDan Youth Connect and the McDan Entrepreneurship Challenge, aim to empower young entrepreneurs across Africa.
We say congratulations to Dr. Daniel McKorley—an icon of Ghanaian enterprise and a symbol of enduring inspiration.
