The fight against COVID-19 in Ghana has received a major boost, as founder and President of the Angel Group of Companies, Dr Kwaku Oteng makes a singular commitment to the tune of GHC 800,000 even as the state continues to canvass support in cash and in kind to augment government’s efforts at stopping the spread of the deadly disease in the West African country.
The business mogul who is famed for his philanthropic activities, being fully aware of the enormous challenges faced by government in its bid to contain and stem the disease and by providing adequate care for the affected, has also launched a novel product, Adonko Hand Sanitizer onto the Ghanaian market.
Speaking on behalf of Dr Kwaku Oteng at brief ceremony to announce the relief and to also launch the Adonko Hand Sanitizer, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) Ghana, Mr Samuel Kofi Acheampong said, “Dr Kwaku Oteng is cognizant of the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s adverse implications on individuals and the our economy; he believes that this token of kindness may do some good in catering for the poor and vulnerable in a time like this”.
This gesture is also a “generous response to the president’s clarion call to individuals and organizations in contributing towards the efforts at combating the disease”, Mr Kofi Acheampong added.
The Kumasi Children’s Home, the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, the Kumasi Central Prisons, the Suntreso Government Hospital, the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) and the Kumasi South Hospital are some of the institutions that have since received from the bounty.
Some head porters and squatters at Alabar, Kronum, Asawasi, Dagombaline and some widow groups have also benefitted from the initiative at time the city of Kumasi is it’s adjunct municipalities and districts are under a partial lockdown, as the case count for COVID-19 grows by the day, making life practically unbearable for the poor and vulnerable.
On Thursday, April 2, 2020, the Adonko company limited launched ‘Adonko hand sanitizer’ a new product on the market in response to President Akufo-Addo’s appeal to businesses to support and help contain spread of the virus.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Samuel Kofi Acheampong said ‘Dr. Oteng took into consideration the general wellbeing of Ghanaians and as such decided to unveil this new products to clamp down on the initial shortages on the market and to beat down the prices so every Ghanaian can own a hand sanitizer in this critical times’
He urged Ghanaians to purchase original Adonko Hand Sanitizer because it has the ability to seal all pores in the palm, dries faster and has 70 percent alcohol content that fits the cut recommended by health experts.
