Electrochem Ghana Limited (EGL), a salt winning company under the McDan Group of Companies has supplied over ten communities along the Songor lagoon in Ada with good drinking water.
The gesture is to curtail a water challenge face by the communities.
The beneficiary communities include Nakomkope, Bornikope, Salom, Toflokpo, Sonkope, Ajumanikope, Matsekope, Lolonya and others.
This comes as a result of water shortage that hit both the Ada East and West Districts of the Greater Accra Region some months ago.
The situation led to serious agitation from the people of Ada, where Assembly members of the districts called on the president and ministers of the state to intervene.
Meanwhile, community members who spoke with journalists after the intervention by EGL expressed their gratitude saying that the company came in at the right time with weekly supply of water.
“I personally have never seen such a move before in Ada that a company will be so quick in responding to our plea. May God bless McDan.” Mr. Daniel Normotey, a resident said.
“We’ve not been getting water since January so we go to the streams to fight cattles before we can wash or bath. I have been depending on satchel water to prepare food for my family so I have been in relief after Electrochem weekly supply us with water.”
Madam Naomi Agbedam of Ajumanikope told the media.
Other residents lauded the effort made by the company and called on other residents to throw their supports for the company for development.
Electrochem Ghana Limited as part of its social responsibilities earlier provided toilet facilities to some communities and supports some communities financially to undertake clean up exercises along the coasts.
