The Kudjragbe Clan of Ada in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra region has called on the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to interdict the District Commander of the area, Andrews K. Mifetu over accusation of harassment, bias and unethical conduct.
The Kudjragbe Clan in a protest demonstration and press conference held in Ada on Wednesday June 19th, 2024 addressed by Godwin Tsatsu Mensah on behalf of the Concerned Indigenes of Ada accused the commander of taking sides in chieftaincy issues in the area.
Mr. Mensah alleged that as members of the Kudjragbe Clan of Ada, the conduct of the commander is breaching the relative peace enjoyed by the people in the area.
Explaining further, he accused the commander of conniving with an alleged dismissed secretary of the clan, Daniel Koranteng Fierty to harass their members through needles arrests, which breaches the peace and unity they enjoy.
The group asserted that on July 10th, 2023, the Divisional Chief (Wetsoyi) of Ada, Nene Agidi Ahaviatse VI through a letter to the secretary outrightly dismissed him from post, detailing 12 reasons for his removal and demanding that he returned all properties of the clan in his possession.
However, the alleged dismissed secretary instead refused to return the properties which included a bus, cheque booklet, keys to the Council hall, generators, public address system and others and rather resorted to using the commander to harass and intimidate them.
They further alleged that a complaint made by the Divisional Chief to the Ada East Police Command on October 2nd, 2023 detailing 10 point allegations of criminalities against the alleged sacked secretary has been ignored by the commander.
According to them, the commander has rather resorted to random arrests of their members.
Further allegations levelled against the commander included his refusal to act on a Court Order, offering security to their opponents to outdoor a chief in spite of the fact that the matter is still pending at the Judicial Committee of the Ada Traditional Council.
Also, they alleged that the commander has turned a blind eye to the issue of a gruesome murder that happened a year ago, claiming that same incident has not come to his attention, when contacted by the family on the issue.
For these and more, they have called for his removal.
When the commander was contacted, he indicated that he was “not going to talk”, since according to him, “it is against the rules of the profession to grant interviews”.
When reminded by this reporter that the allegations were against his person and goes to the root of personal and professional integrity, he still declined comment, adding that if anyone has any issues, they should address it to the National Headquarters instead.
In a similar attempt by this paper to reach Daniel Koranteng Fierty for his reaction, he failed to honour the telephone call placed on his phone and also refused to revert SMS messages sent to him on the related issue.
