Some residents, Developers and chiefs of Fetteh Kakraba in the Gomoa East District of the central region are raising concerns about the activities of land guards in the area.
The affected persons claim the constant harassment meted out to them by these land guards are unbearable.
The residents and developers clad in red and black to signify their displeasure gathered at the chief’s palace to address the media.
They also claim the wanton demolishing of structures amidst brutality meted out to them is frightening.
Most of these affected residents have had portions of their already developed plots taken over forcefully by the land guards and resold to other persons.
Constantly, they are also being pressurized to pat unspecified fees to the land guards.
Meanwhile, chief of Gomoa Fetteh Kakraba Nana Essel Amoaqunadoh accused the Omankrado of Gomoa Fetteh, Nana Kwesi Kwaansah as being the mastermind of the land guard operations since the two parties are litigating over the lands in Fetteh Kakraba. He also accused the Central East Regional Command of giving cover to the persons he described as land guards and wants the Inspector General of Police and other stakeholders to intervene to bring calm to the area.
Even though the Omankrado, Nana Kwesi Kwaansah would not speak on camera, the Chief revealed that the Gomoa Fetteh stool has recently acquired an Appeals Court judgement enforcing that all lands at Fetteh Kakraba belong to the Gomoa Fetteh stool and that the traditional council is only embarking on a lawful repossession and administration of the lands that which he says is devoid of the usage of thugs otherwise referred to as land guards.
Central East Regional Police Commander David S. Eklu on his part has denied allegations of police involvement in land guard activities. He says, the outfit is rather resolute to protect properties legally acquired by any interest party and five persons currently standing trial for land guard and related offenses.
