Former Ghana FA Executive Committee member Kudjoe Fianoo has called for urgent stability in the Black Stars’ coaching situation after the dismissal of Otto Addo, who was sacked following a 2-1 loss to Germany in Stuttgart.
With the Ghana Football Association expected to appoint a new head coach soon, Fianoo is proposing a temporary solution: allow technical director Winfried Schäfer to take charge of the national team on an interim basis.
Speaking on Kessben Sports, he argued that time is too short ahead of upcoming major competitions, including World Cup preparations, and that Schäfer’s familiarity with Ghanaian football makes him the most practical short-term option.
According to Fianoo, this approach would give the GFA breathing space to properly assess and appoint a long-term coach rather than rushing into yet another quick replacement. He also criticized the frequent turnover of coaches, warning that it is becoming a recurring problem for the national team.
The GFA is expected to name a new Black Stars coach in the coming days, but Fianoo insists an interim solution is necessary to stabilize the team immediately.
