The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced that the suspended 2025/2026 recruitment screening exercise for the Greater Accra Region will resume on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
In a statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, Acting Director General of Public Relations, GAF said the screening will now take place at eight sub-centres across five locations to ensure a more controlled and orderly process.
According to the statement, “All qualified applicants in batches of 600 persons will receive an SMS specifying their reporting dates, batches and designated centres.”
The approved screening centres include:
El-Wak Stadium (two centres)
Nicholson Park, Burma Camp (two centres)
Air Force Base, Burma Camp
Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Teshie (two centres)
Eastern Naval Command, Tema
Applicants have been urged to strictly adhere to the instructions sent via SMS and check the recruitment portal for updates. Those who do not receive a message by November 20 are encouraged to call the helpline or use the provided WhatsApp contact for assistance.
GAF also stressed that friends and relatives of applicants should not accompany them to the centres to avoid congestion, noting that non-applicants will not be allowed access.
The screening exercise was halted earlier following a deadly stampede at the El-Wak Stadium. A Board of Inquiry set up to investigate the incident is still undertaking its work.
In a bid to enhance transparency and accountability, GAF has replaced the entire Greater Accra recruitment team with new heads: Commodore F.A. Nyarko (Human Resources), Colonel F. Kusi-Darko (Manpower), and Colonel G.B. Eduah (Information Technology).
Captain Arhin reiterated that anyone found culpable in the tragic incident will face sanctions. She extended the Armed Forces’ condolences to the bereaved families and assured that the injured will receive free medical care at the 37 Military Hospital until they fully recover.
GAF also announced a special recruitment package for the injured and affected families and appealed for the public’s continued cooperation
