The Office of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has rubbished the allegations levelled against the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) by his opponents that he is moving around bribing the Assembly members to endorse him for his second term.
One of the media outlets yesterday reported that the MCE, Simon Kwaku Tetteh is moving around the electoral areas giving money to the assembly members to endorse a statement in an appeal to the President to re-appoint him for the second term.
However, in a rebuttal to that, the office of the MCE has noted the said publication is a false allegations mastermind by his opponents to who are also lobbying to get elect as the next MCE to tarnish his hard-won reputation.
A statement from his office said the story is false and misleading which he called on the public to ignore it and treat it as a contempt.
The statement noted that Mr. Simon Tetteh has been one of the most hardworking and competent MCE, the residents of Krobo land have ever had.
According to the statement, they had believed in him that’s why the Assembly members gave him the 100% endorsement in 2017 and he has proved beyond by undertaken a marvelous job in the area also change the face of politics in the area.
The Statement added that he has never asked the Members to endorse him either bribed them in any way but due to his hardworking and relations with the Members openly came out to endorse him for the second term.
The Assembly Members in last week, led by Hon Raymond E. K Gborson on behalf of 27 Assembly Members out of 31 signed a Petition to the Presidency in an appeal to get their MCE to get reappointed for the second term.
According to the Assembly Members letter to the President, “Mr. Simon Kwaku Tetteh has justified the confidence we reposed in him. He has maintained a cordial and excellent working relationship with the assembly members, chicks, Queen others and the party faithful”.
The Members said, “Until he was nominated MCE in 2017, he was an elected Assembly Member for Nuaso Newtown Electoral Area from 2005 to 2017, adding that under, his leadership the municipality witnessed over city (80) projects in the areas of education, security, sanitation, roads, agriculture, markets and the unprecedented extension of electricity to overstretched areas of the Municipality”.
The Assembly Members said “these projects have been completed and are in use whilst others are at various stages of completion”, adding that “as development agents, we are of the firm belief that if he is allowed to stay on, these projects will be completed to the benefit of all and that will help to boost the image of the party in the municipality.
They said “Mr Simon Kweku Tetteh has been the best Municipal
Chief Executive, we have ever worked with. He has worked hard to quality tor the Ghana Secondary Critics Support Project currently underway at the Agormanya market that is the construction of 188 lockable stores”.
They added that “As elected Assembly Members of Lower Manya Krobo, we are grateful to Ghanaians for giving the president a second term to do more. It is on the back of this, we are also asking for a second term for Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh to do more for the good people of Lower Manya Krobo, we promise to give him as the president’s nominee a first-round endorsement on the day of his confirmation”.
Meanwhile, the Klomahengme, a pressure group on Krobo land and the market women have also added their voice calling on the President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo to reappointment Hon Simon Kweku Tetteh as the Municipal Chief Executive of Lower Manya.
According to the group, the outgoing MCE has performed and contributed massively to development in the area ranging from health, education, security, agriculture, sanitation, roads, water and among all aspect of development hence need the second term to continue.
