The Akuapem South Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) in the Eastern region, has apprehended Daniel Adjei, a customs officer, and his accomplice, John Annan, for the unlawful demolition of a public toilet at Asuafum community in Aburi.
The 12-seater KVIP toilet has been serving the community for about 40 years now.
It was regarded as the only facility serving most residents who have not toilet facilities in their homes.
According to reports, the suspects claimed they purchased the land where the public facility is located two years ago.
However, the assembly in a statement refuted the statement and noted that no permit has been granted for the sale and construction of any building on the land.
The suspects have been handed over to the Eastern Regional police command to assist in investigation.
The community hopes that justice will be served, and measures would be taken to immediately construct a public toilet to replace the demolished one to curb possible rise in open defecation and its concomitant health implications.
