It is interesting to know that Osu was one family when it moved from the Shai District in Osudoku, precisely Owuwem.
The family was inextricably a Religious Nadu “Nor” clan, that has their peculiar names, norms and traditions.
The Nadu Wulomo and his Baake Woryoo (sister) were their leaders. They settled on these coasts by their explicit permition of the Gborbu Wulomo Shitse of Nungua.
Wor-Lumor Korno Borketey Laweh Tsuru. The old, and all of what we see as the present sites of Osu is the land attached to the Klotey Deity, which was given to the Nadus, thus making the Nadu Wulomo also a Klotey Wulomo. This spiritual authority, and right conferred on the Nadu Klotey Wulomo, makes him the “owner and Supreme Ruler of all Osu Soil (Religion and medicine of the Ga people, M.J. Fields page 64.)
In recent times certain sociological tendencies brewed by some self-centered elders in the quest for Recognitions, Titles and Traditional office positions, degenerated the hitherto highly upheld traditional and usages of the Osu people into very disturbing act of obscurantism.
The scramble to sell off Osu lands to enrich themselves were the underlying factors that yielded the chieftaincy litigation in Osu, the obvious result of very obnoxious behaviour, by obscurantist, taking advantage of the ignorance of innocent youth in their homes, “sold out” untruths about who the TRUE owners of the Osu land is.They arrogated to themselves certain titles that were not in the traditional positions of Osu.
Some created their own self-styled traditional offices which are all quasi with these obviously created positions, these miscreants throw dust into the eyes of judges, politicians and public administrators by assimilating the strict Osu religious traditional laws, bending them to suit their interest-which mostly is the wrongful sale of Osu lands and properties.
In the late 1950s – 1960s land litigation between prominent chiefs of Osu which shouldn’t have been the case, was at a rise and saw chiefs relegating the “supreme ruler and the owner of the soil” -The Nadu Klotey Wulomo to the background, fed the courts with distorted perjurious information to obtain judgements in their favour. This today has become the bedrock of all Osu chieftaincy litigations.
The Lands Commission Department of Ghana is not precluded from this syndicature.
The office of the Osu Nadu Klortey Wulomo, carefully studying these negative factors that undermine the sociological development of Osu is therefore resolved to use ALL means legal and traditional to bring back sanity into Osu chieftaincy administration and therefore warns all fake traditional office holders and other impersonators to look out to being prosecuted.
Notwithstanding certain lawyers, supposed to be noble men in public standing also have taken advantage of the unstable atmosphere on in Osu to falsely sell or lead some miscreants calling themselves Osu Dzaase to loot monies that belong to Osu through judgements obtained for Osu.
These and many other illegalities that have come to the attention of the office of the Osu Nadu Klortey Wulomo tend to be part of the lifesaving projects being put in place for Osu by the Nadu Klortey Wulomo, Wor-Lumor Boni Nuumo Noi Osekan Kpenuku II.
More to come.
