After years of stalled construction and growing pressure on basic education infrastructure in the Asante Akyem South Municipality, the Juaso-Yawkei Junior High School (JHS) classroom block has received a major lifeline through a cash donation from the Christiana Addo Memorial Foundation (CAMF).

The intervention, made on Friday, January 16, 2026, is expected to accelerate the completion of the long-delayed school block, which has remained unfinished despite repeated appeals from the community.

The undisclosed donation was made by the President and Founder of CAMF, Mr. Bice Obour Osei Kuffour, following engagements initiated through the Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Alhassan Abdulai, traditional authorities, and other opinion leaders in Yawkei.

The project, which has become symbolic of the community’s struggle with inadequate educational infrastructure, has been hindered for years by limited funding, forcing students and teachers to operate under constrained conditions amid rising enrolment.

Presenting the donation to the Headmistress of Yawkei JHS, Mr. Obour Osei Kuffour reaffirmed the Foundation’s belief in education as the most critical tool for community transformation.

He described the support as a deliberate investment in human capital rather than a one-off charitable gesture, stressing that strengthening public education at the grassroots level is key to reducing inequality and unlocking local potential within the municipality.

“Our children’s education remains the strongest engine for community development,” he said. “By supporting Yawkei JHS, we are helping to nurture future leaders, artisans and innovators who will drive development not only in Yawkei but across Asante Akyem. This intervention is about self-reliance and long-term impact.”

Mr. Obour Osei Kuffour also outlined CAMF’s track record in education and community development, noting that since 2017 the Foundation has awarded six scholarships annually to brilliant but needy students at the tertiary level.

In addition to educational support, CAMF has undertaken several community sanitation and social intervention projects, particularly in underserved areas.

He used the occasion to call for stronger collaboration between school authorities, the Asante Akyem South Municipal Assembly, traditional leaders and private individuals to address persistent gaps in basic education infrastructure.

As a further show of commitment, Mr. Obour Osei Kuffour pledged to personally finance the painting of the new JHS block once construction is completed.

The Headmistress of Yawkei JHS, Mrs. Helena Kemevor Ayettey, described the donation as timely and transformative, noting that it comes at a period when the school is grappling with increased enrolment and limited classroom space.

She said the support would significantly improve teaching and learning conditions and boost morale among staff and students.

While expressing appreciation, the Headmistress also appealed for sustained community and private-sector support, warning that the educational needs of Yawkei continue to grow.

She encouraged other individuals and organizations to emulate CAMF’s example to help transform the school into a centre of excellence for the community.

The brief presentation ceremony was attended by Nana Gyebi, Juaso Dabehene and Acting Yawkei Dikro, representatives of the Yawkei Palace, officials from the Christiana Addo Memorial Foundation, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as students of Yawkei JHS.
