The Oti regional minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, has arranged special loan packages for constituency women organisers, in a bold step to empower women and strengthen the School Feeding Programme in his area.
The initiative is designed to provide them with the needed financial support to supply nutritious meals to schoolchildren across the region.
Speaking with the paper in a telephone interview last week about his plans for the region, particularly the School Feeding contractors, John Kwadwo Gyapong, said “My brother, the party has been in power for only eight months and those who have the contracts to execute the School Feeding Programme may not have funds to pre-finance. I am therefore arranging for soft loans for the woman organisers who are doing the school feeding programme; so that it would cushion them and also ensure they prepare nutritious meals for the school children.”
This intervention not only creates sustainable jobs for women but also ensures that children in basic schools receive healthy meals daily, boosting attendance and academic performance.
By linking women’s empowerment to education, the Regional Minister is sowing seeds of growth that will nourish both households and the future of Oti.
