The Editorial Board and Management of The New Crusading Guide refer to articles published about Lawyer Charles William Zwennes & Gaisie Zwennes Hughes & Co., an Accra-based Law Firm in the Friday, 13th March, Tuesday, 16th June and Friday 19th June editions of our Newspaper.
The Board and Management acknowledge that the subject-matters published were not fairly reported due to the failure to contact Lawyer Zwennes to elicit his reaction and version of events.
The Board and Management also acknowledge that the publications had been misleading to the extent that the stories had nothing to do with the Republic Bank Ghana Limited, as the headlines could have mislead the reading public into thinking. The publications concerned Lawyer Zwennes and his Law Firm in their capacity and in the course of their legal practice as lawyers for their client, Merlin Gaming Ghana Limited in a number of court cases. References and mention of Republic Bank Ghana Limited were unfortunate and regretted.
In that regard, we also appreciate that the reports referred to various on-going court actions involving Merlin Gaming Ghana Limited and its various shareholders and therefore the reports in those matters from information gathered from one source would necessarily be one-sided and potentially misleading, and could cause prejudice to the due administration of justice by the courts.
In light of the above, we hereby retract the said articles and render apology to Mr. Charles William Zwennes, Gaisie Zwennes Hughes & Co., and the Republic Bank Ghana Limited for whatever damage that those publications might have caused.
