Concern Citizens of the New Patriotic Party, in the Suhum constituency in the Eastern Region, are up in arms against the Municipal Chief Executive, Margaret Darko accusing her of fomenting troubles in the area, which they are calling on the President to call her to order before they descend on her.
According to the group, the MCE is using her office to undermine the work of the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Kwadwo Asante, by influencing the Polling station elections to bring her choice in the person of Presidential Staffer Frank Asiedu Bekoe, A. K. A Protozoa to contest the MP in the next primaries.
The Group leader, Samuel Baah addressing a presser over the weekend stated that the MCE is on record with substantive evidence instigating party supporters against MP.
He alleged that the MCE has turned her official residence for the championing the bid of parliamentary ambition of a presidential staffer Frank Asiedu Bekoe, and also using the resources meant to support the disabled in the constituency to support the agenda of the presidential staffer which they think is callousness.
He further alleged that in the just-ended NPP Polling station and electoral area coordinators elections, the MCE distributed items such as hairdryers, sewing machines, pieces of clothes, spraying machines, and amount of money to induce electorates to influence the outcome of the party internal elections.
The Group added that the MCE instead of projecting and communicating the developments going on in the constituency, she rather incites the people against the MP who is representative of the people who they voted to represent them.
According to the concerned members of NPP, an MCE they expect is supposed to be thinking about the development of the constituency rather than getting into party internal elections which have created a lot of tension in the area.
The group noted that the action of the MCE is disturbing the peace of the party, which will affect the fortunes of the party in the constituency.
“Considering the situation in Parliament for which our MPs need absolute peace of mind to push the government’s business agenda brought before the house, Protozoa and MCE are found instigating party supporters against the MP whiles at the time the MP is busy in parliament working for his people,” the Group alleged.
“We are therefore by this press conference sending a strong signal to the leadership of the NPP caucus in Parliament and the office of the chief of staff as well as the presidency that we are tired of this happening going on in the constituency. And that we are from next week 28th March 2022 pull the Suhum MP Oboafo Kwadwo Asante out of parliament to counter the weird situation currently going on in the constituency’’.
The Concerned Citizens of NPP in Suhum Constituency led by Samuel Baah, a.k.a Gosh concludes by calling on President Nana Addo Dankwa to take appropriate steps to call his representative who is always fighting against the people’s representative to order for peace to prevail.
Meanwhile, the MCE when contacted declined to comment on the matter at press time on Sunday.
