Member of Ghana’s Council of State, H.E. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, has urged Ghana to move beyond relying on diaspora remittances and tap into the knowledge, skills and global networks of Ghanaians living abroad.
Speaking at the ongoing 2026 CEANA Conference in Maryland, USA, he said the Ewe diaspora has a wealth of expertise in medicine, academia, engineering, technology, finance, law and entrepreneurship that could contribute significantly to development in Ghana, particularly the Volta Region.
He called for stronger partnerships between diaspora professionals, universities, investors and institutions in Ghana to promote knowledge transfer, mentorship, investment and job creation.
“We can live here and still build there. We can succeed here and still create opportunities there.”
Kwamigah-Atokple challenged CEANA members to turn their international networks and expertise into practical development partnerships that can deliver lasting benefits to communities in Ghana.
