The world of tennis in Ghana is set to get a major boost with the visit of two tennis legends, Katrina Adams and Roger Smith. Adams, the former President of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), and Smith, a former ATP Top 100 player and Bahamian Olympian, will be in Ghana this coming Friday for a tennis clinic dubbed “Africa: Elevating Ghana Tennis.”
During their visit, Adams and Smith will be conducting a series of coaching seminars and clinics aimed at elevating the standards of tennis in Ghana. The events, which will take place at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club and Kempinski, will bring together tennis enthusiasts, coaches, and players to share knowledge, skills, and experiences.
The itinerary for the visit includes a press conference on Saturday at 7:00 am, followed by coaching seminars and clinics on Saturday and Sunday. The events will provide a unique opportunity for Ghanaians to learn from two of the world’s most renowned tennis experts.
On Monday, Adams will launch her book at The Mix Hub in Osu at 6:30 pm, an event that promises to be a highlight of her visit. The former USTA President has been a trailblazer in tennis, breaking down barriers and promoting the sport globally.
The visit by Adams and Smith is expected to have a significant impact on the development of tennis in Ghana. Their expertise and experience will undoubtedly inspire and motivate Ghanaians to take up the sport, and their presence will help to promote tennis at all levels.
The tennis clinic, “Africa: Elevating Ghana Tennis,” is a timely initiative that will help to address the challenges facing tennis in Ghana. With the support of Adams and Smith, Ghanaian tennis players and coaches will have access to world-class training and mentorship, which will undoubtedly improve their skills and performance.
As the tennis fraternity in Ghana eagerly awaits the visit of Adams and Smith, there is no doubt that their presence will be a game-changer for the sport in the country. Their expertise, experience, and passion for tennis will inspire a new generation of Ghanaians to take up the sport, and their legacy will be felt for years to come.
