…Greater Accra Regional Minister Fingered!
The Prampram Community was yesterday thrown into a state of fear and tension when some group of people supported the claimant to the Prampran Stool, Nene Tetteh Wakah III (Parker Kwaku) to sprinkle the traditional festive food, Kpokpoi to mark their Homowo celebrations.
Information gathered on the grounds indicated that the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs had gaven an order instructing the feuding factions in Prampram not to publicly sprinkle the Kpokpoi, but rather do so in their houses.
Meanwhile, it was alleged that the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey countered the decision taken by the GARHC, and gave Nene Tetteh Wakah III the permission to go ahead with the celebration, contrary to the order given by the Regional House of Chiefs.
The situation created uncontrolled tension within the community, but for the intervention of some military personnel there could be bloody clash between the two factions.
The whole Prampram community was after the incident thrown into a state of mourning even though they are in a festive season.
Many residents pointed accusing g fingers at the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey for being the cause of the whole controversy for giving Nene Tetteh Wakah III the authority to sprinkle Kpokpoi.
The people recounted similar incident when Ishmael Ashitey superintended the outdooring of Nene Tetteh Wakah III, ahead of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs ruling over who is the legitimate heir to the Prampram Stool.
It was explained that the installation of Parker Kwaku as Paramount Chief of Prampram was against a response from the GARHC to the Chieftaincy Minister, that the installation process of the said Parker Kwaku (Nene Tetteh Wakah III) was not followed and all the three accredited kingmakers, Abbey/Doku Mansro We, Tetteh Djan/Larbi Agbo We and Kwei Opleitu Waka We, have strongly opposed the attempt to install a new paramount chief without authority.
Nene Tetteh Wakah III’s installation process and confinement was nullified by the security agencies for not following due process and also for maintaining peace and order within the Prampram Traditional Area and its environs.
The Regional Minister according to sources put a scheme in place to distract the GARHC ruling which was to be delivered on February 8, 2019.
After the incident, residents have expressed anger at the outdooring of Kwaku Parker as their Paramount Chief and the Greater Accra Regional Minister for his interference in their chieftaincy matters.
According to the people who expressed sentiments at the whole development, Ishmael Ashitey is not a chieftaincy minister to be poking his nose in their affairs.
