The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Divine Otoo Agorhom (Chairman 7) has called on the traditional leaders of Ada to unite and fix all problems that surrounds the Songhor lagoon which will hinder development.
He asked the youth to embrace every business opportunity that comes their ways to change the state of Ada.
In an interview, Mr. Agorhom lauded government’s decision to lease the lagoon to Electrochem Ghana Limited for 15 years.
According to him, any town or state without companies and investors struggles to develop so the coming of Electrochem Ghana Limited EGL is a great intervention for Ada for business opportunities.
“I think we need to applaud government for the bold decision and also embrace the work of the investor because it is not easy to work on a lagoon like the Songhor lagoon because it needs to be revived,” he said.
He also commended Dr. Daniel Mckorley, chairman for McDan Group of Companies which EGL is a subsidiary of for the construction of an astro turf for the youth, providing water for some communities and other corporate social responsibilities.
“I want to charge the youth to embrace every business opportunity that comes with EGL’s projects for better life,” he said.
He continued by saying, “our chiefs are the custodians of this property and so they need to sit at a round table and discuss and then talk to the investor about what they want and how they want it but not to be divided over the project”; this he said will not let peace prevail in the Ada land.
Mr. Agorhom who has about eight companies and over 8,000 workers underscored how some youths are selective in the type of job or businesses to do without considering the profit they can derived from such businesses or job opportunities.
“I sold kerosene, doughnuts and woods before. I trade jeans trousers and shirts and through that I saw purified water and how it was packaged in Nigeria so I invented to Ghana and it became the first sachet and bottle water in Ghana.
This means that every great man suffered or had experience in diverse ways so the youth should not feel ashamed doing certain jobs or businesses for living.”
