The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources(MLNR) Hon. George Mireku Duker on the back of the 2024 budget read in Parliament yesterday has opined that the composition and structure of the budget for next year will propel Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s vision of value addition and leverage the minerals royalty to build community roads, with special concentration on Tarkwa.
With the processes for retrofitting the Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO) ongoing and again with the known quantity of the Nyinahin bauxite block established, the idea or a policy to add value to raw materials cannot be misplaced.
Hon. Duker stated that the idea of Dr, Bawumia pushing for dual-carriage road network within the regional capitals should be lauded by all because this will obviously expand the cities and enhance business activities.
He said, especially with his passion and focus on the mining communities, he seeks to address the poor state of road infrastructure in these areas where the natural resources come from.
The deputy minister for Lands and Natural Resources who is also the Member of Parliament(MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency indicated that “the 2024 budget which is set to empower the youth for the future of the country is also a key vision of Dr. Bawumia and there is therefore the need for all of us to rally behind him to achieve the expected growth.”
Again, he said, “if you carefully study other aspects of the 2024 budget, one will come to a realization that the light of hope beckons and our next President(Dr. Bawumia) will certainly ride on that for our victory in the general elections next year.”
