Residents in the Ayensuano Constituency in the Eastern Region have declared their support for Ida Adjoa Asiedu, an aspiring parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party and have thus, appealed to delegates to vote for her
The residents declared their preparedness to vote for Adjoa Ida should she become the parliamentary candidate for Ayensuano. Ida, in the 2020 parliamentary election, contested the former Member of Parliament, Samuel Ayeh Paye and lost marginally.
The constituents in an interview explained that they have tried and tested all the male candidates in the area since multi-party democracy commenced in 1992, but their performances have been below standard. According to them, these personalities failed to achieve or provide the significant developmental projects needed in the deprived communities in the constituency.
They believe that Ida has the right qualities and skills needed to assume the parliamentary seat of Ayensuano. They claim that even though Ida is yet to contest the parliamentary she has single-handedly undertaking some key and strategic projects in supporting livelihoods of community people in the constituency. Ida Aseidu, has single handedly reshaped some of the roads, and built a tissue factory at Anom this has created jobs for the youth and women in the constituency.
Mrs. Ida Adjoa Aseidu, this week went through the vetting process and picked number 1 on the ballot in readiness for the task ahead. She is contesting with four strong men, including the former NPP MP, Samuel Ayeh-Paye, and Mark Okraku-Mantey, Deputy Minister for Tourism,.
Speaking with this paper in an interview, Ida Adjoa Asiedu was confident that she would win the primaries considering her skills and capabilities.
She said “The Constituency is at crossroads. We are confronted with the decision to remain an orphan constituency or present an acceptable candidate to restore our relevance in the political space by winning back our seat”. “It must be clarified that electorates now vote for parliamentary candidates based on their worth and not necessarily, the political party they belong. The worth of an aspirant is measured by what the person has done in her private capacity to advance the development of the community and the people. What she promises to do when given public resources, a test of her integrity in committing herself to her words, she stated.”
“Going into the 2024 elections, the changing dynamics in the voting pattern in Ayensuano makes it imperative for our party to put its best foot forward. It is in this light, that, we do not need a soothsayer to tell us, that, Ida Adjoa Asiedu is the best foot for the NPP going into the 2024 general election”. She noted
She also stated that her outfit has rolled out a community intervention project dubbed ”Impacting Communities, Improving Livelihood,” aimed at improving various deplorable roads in farming communities, enhancing quality education, youth empowerment, and healthcare.
In terms of job creation, she disclosed that she has constructed a Paper Mill manufacturing company at Anum in the Constituency for the production of tissue papers and other paper products under the One District One Factory initiative.
She assured that the power of education would be leveraged under her leadership as MP for the area and would sponsor and secure scholarship opportunities for brilliant students in the Constituency to pursue engineering, medicine, Law, and other tertiary-related programs as part of the broader plan to break the quagmire of poverty.
Ida Adjoa Asiedu said she would relentlessly continue to mobilize resources through her not-for-profit social intervention program “the Abadae3 Care Plan,” to aid poor and vulnerable families in the Constituency.
She also promised to support farmers in the area by establishing 100,000-capacity nurseries, mobilizing agrochemicals and various farm inputs to support farmers at subsidized prices, and most importantly lobbying for the rehabilitation of roads to all farming communities in the area.
