Information reaching The New Crusading GUIDE indicates that ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Western Regional Executives on Wednesday November 15 boycotted vetting of Abeka Dauda Anvegyene, a parliamentary aspirant in the Ellembele constituency in the Western Region.
Francis Ndede Siah, the Regional Party Chairman, told The New Crusading Guide that their action stemmed from the fact that Abeka is on suspension for misconducting himself and therefore not qualified to contest the primaries.
Additionally, he said Abeka is not even a registered voter in Ellembele after transferring his vote to the Evalue-Ajomoro,- Gwira constituency in 2020.
Chairman Ndede Siah noted that even though his executives were in the room, they would not condone illegality by taking part in vetting a suspended party member but just looked on as some national executives from Accra did.
He said the Regional Executives did not walk out of the vetting room out of respect for the three-member national team led by Alhaji Aziz Futah, the Nassara Coordinator.
He however disclosed that the fuming Ellembele constituency executives could not control their temper and angrily left.
The Regional Chairman accused some ‘powerful hands’ at the national level of desperately trying to push the suspended Abeka into the contest and reminded such gurus of implication of their action , including refusal by the constituency executives to hold any primaries .
He said Abeka’s illegibility to contest the primaries is still hanging and urged his supporters to discard claim that their candidate is number TWO on the ballot paper, stressing that there has been no such balloting.
Reports indicate that although Abeka Dauda Anvegyene holds no executive position in Ellembele NPP, he was as far back as January this year using the party’s letter heads and logo for his personal activities. This is said to be a criminal offence.
He was also meeting the polling station executives secretly to canvass for votes when nomination had yet not been opened for contest in orphan constituencies.
The constituency executives got wind of his illegal activites and verbally warned him to stop but he continued doing so.
They had no option than to issue him with a suspension letter. Abeka then became angry and insulted all the executives, using unprintable words like ‘ mad man” to describe the constituency chairman.
He later made an appeal to Region but his suspension was upheld after hearing by the regional disciplinary committee.
In a letter dated August 18th 2023, and signed by Okatekyie Amankwaa Afrifa, the Regional Secretary, the committee found Abeka guilty of misconduct by bringing the party’s name into disrepute.
It also found him guilty of breaching article 4 (7) (1) (a, e, f, g, h) of NPP constitution hence evoking article 4 (7) (2).
The committee said his suspension was therefore effective from the date of handing over that letter to him and will remain in force till further notice. Copies of the letter were sent to the Party’s General Secretary, Regional chairman, the disciplinary committee chairman and the Ellembele constituency Chairman.
The disciplinary committee therefore barred Abeka from participating in any party activity, meeting, event or using its logo and symbols for any purpose.
He was also advised to use the period of suspension to reflect on his actions and show remorse for his misconduct.
