Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has described 2025 as a watershed moment in Ghana’s economic recovery, citing major gains achieved under the Mahama administration after inheriting what he called a severely distressed economy.
In a social media post on Saturday, Dr. Forson said the government assumed office at a time of heightened inflation, mounting public debt, depleted foreign exchange reserves, and the absence of fiscal buffers, conditions that posed serious risks to economic stability.
According to him, the administration responded with decisive reforms and strict fiscal discipline to address the challenges, prioritising macroeconomic stabilisation and confidence-building measures.
He noted that by the end of the year, key economic indicators had shown marked improvement, including notable declines in inflation and interest rates, reduced debt levels, stronger foreign reserves, and a firmer cedi.
Dr. Forson said the progress achieved in 2025 laid the foundation for sustained growth, stressing that disciplined economic management was central to restoring stability and reviving investor and public confidence.
