The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has constituted a steering committee to oversee the implementation of a 24-hour economy framework aimed at strengthening Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe, announced the move at the University of Ghana’s 77th Annual New Year School and Conference (ANYSC) on Tuesday, January 6.
According to Mr Tamekloe, the initiative aligns with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s Reset Agenda and President John Mahama’s vision of building a more dynamic, job-creating economy.
“I have constituted a Steering Committee for the 24-hour economy initiative in the petroleum downstream sector so that we can roll out a plan to ensure the sector operates around the clock in line with the President’s vision,” he said.
He explained that the committee will be responsible for providing strategic oversight, coordination and direction for the effective rollout of the programme across the downstream industry.
Mr Tamekloe, who will chair the committee, said the primary focus would be on addressing infrastructure and operational bottlenecks to ensure the successful implementation of the 24-hour economy policy.
“The core objective is to create more jobs and ensure the downstream petroleum sector remains efficient and continuously operational,” he added.
