…As Delegates Ready To Credit Him With Massive Endorsement
As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) goes to primaries tomorrow, there are uncertainties in the camps of the various candidates contesting to lead their respective constituencies in the December polls.
However, these past few days to the primaries have been used by the candidates to examine their strengths and weaknesses; with majority strategizing to carry the day.
One of the considered tough battle in tomorrow’s primaries is for the Nhyiaeso Constituency parliamentary seat currently occupied by Kennedy Kankam.
Interesting information gathered from delegates has indicate that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Stephen Amoah who has also laced boots to contest the primaries, has become the darling boy of the delegates.
Both the incumbent MP, Kennedy Kamkam and Stephen Amoah, have a huge support base and have demonstrated exceptional qualities of being great parliamentarians.
Although both men, Kennedy Kankam and Stephen Amoah are top members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), the latter seems to have garnered massive support base.
Delegates who have so much confidence in Stephen Amoah indicated that tomorrow’s election will surely go in his favour and that they are giving him their votes because of the support he has given to the people in the constituency.
It is of note that majority of NPP members in Nhyiaeso have benefited from various amounts of MASLOC loans and other facilities under Stephen Amoah.
Stephen Amoah has also contributed immensely in the development of the constituency in recent times, a development that caused serious affection for him and push him ahead of his opponent.
According to delegates, he hired a caterpillar to grade some bad roads in Nhyiaeso and was also involved in supporting the constituency in other areas.
His achievements have also been a factor here. Recently, Stephen Amoah was honoured as the Best CEO in the Micro-Loan Industry for 2018.
The award, given by the European CEO Awards in the United Kingdom, is in recognition of his contribution to micro-finance industry in Ghana.
The European CEO Awards is a scheme that provides recognition to exceptional leaders within the industry, identifying innovative and creative leaders who have demonstrated strong integrity and contributed both to the industry and the wider society.
Since he was appointed in March 2017, Mr Amoah has provided leadership for MASLOC to collect cash and assets of the centre which were in arrears; helping the center collect its assets amounting GH¢16million in March 2018 compared with GH¢6 million in 2016.
Through tactful negotiations, MASLOC, working in concert with key stakeholders, has established 216 district offices in a little over a year with the aim of bringing microfinance to the doorstep of the less privileged.
MASLOC has also undergone a restructuring process including the establishment of a functioning internal audit department and an audit committee.
That, he said, would ensure the financial inclusion of the target group which has previously been excluded from the traditional banking environment.
Throughout his career, Stephen Amoah has worked to empower small businesses and new business owners in Ghana.
