Honorable Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma West Constituency in the Greater Accra Region has had the walk-in-the-park in her quest to become the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s 2024 parliamentary candidate for the constituency.
At the end of the January 27, 2024 contest in the constituency, the party delegates proved to have the Incumbent Member of Parliament at heart, and gave her another chance to lead them, telling her contender to wait for another time.
The Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful won the Saturday primaries with 817 votes beating her contender Roni Paa Kwesi Nicol who polled 241 votes. 20 votes were rejected.
Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful since her win in the 2012 parliamentary primaries with same Roni Nicol to represent the NPP went ahead to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC)s candidate in the 2012 parliamentary election and had since made the seat a zone for the NPP.
The delegates who renewed her mandate said her achievements as a Member of Parliament abound across all sides of the constituency and have impacted all sectors including rural roads expansion, building and equipping of clinics and health centers, construction of community centers, educational facilities, libraries, sponsoring of hundreds of students, building of police stations, building of community modern rest rooms, wooing of investors to the constituency and a tall list.
In the areas of job creation, she has provided seed capital for hundreds of small-scale businesses as well as provided equipment and tools for hundreds of persons who graduated in vocational and technical training institutes to start up their businesses.
She has supervised the aspect of majority of persons getting loans to startup businesses, also about 150 individual drivers were given brand new vehicles to run as a commercial venture.
On the Floor of Parliament, Hon. Owusu-Ekuful has made Ablekuma West a household name through her advocacy for all individuals especially women, rich contributions to debates and frequent meaningful statements.
