The chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the AdansiAsokwa constituency in the Ashanti region has assured the Member Of parliament for the area,Hon. Kobina Tahir Hammond that he’ll do whatever it takes to make sure he becomes the longest serving MP in the history of Ghana fourth republic.

Speaking onObuasi base radio station shaft FM morning show monitored by ObuasiTV, Mr. Kwame Owusu explained that, they made this firm decision after the just ended Constituency delegate’s conference held in AdansiAsokwa due to the lawmaker’s good qualities he has exhibited and the way he has over the years lived with his people.

“Hon. K.T Hammond is a great politician, his qualities in Ghana’s politics are second to none and he has been good to the people of AdansiAsokwa constituency,”he said.

“We want to break the current record of the longest serving member of Parliament which is held by RT. Hon. Alban SumanaBagbin who served for 28 years as MP for NadowliKaleo, Hon. Kyei Mensah Bonsu is equally serving for 28 years for Suame, but we know he is likely not to contest again, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central has also declared not to seek re- election in 2024, after 24 years in Parliament.

Hon KT Hammond first went to Parliament in 2001 and by 2025, he would have served 24 years, we will make sure no one contests him in the 2024 and 2028 primaries so he can set a new record for 32 years as a Member of Parliament for the good people of AdansiAsokwa,” he added.

He further stated that it will be a work in futility if someone choose to contest the incumbent MP,as such person will be doing so at their own peril.

“For years, people complained of no contest in the constituency as K.T Hammond is never contested,we decided to bring in a contest but his opponent in Samuel BinfoDankwa’s performance was nothing good to write home about and even made K.T Hammond’s vote surged higher in 2020 general election,we believe that the people of AdansiAsokwa wants him only so no one should try to contest him because it won’t work” he stated.

After the interview, the Obuasi base journalist Chukwu Joseph, went to the AdansiAsokwa to check weather what the Constituency Chairman was saying is from the entire executives, the Constituency Secretary, 1st and 2nd Vice Chairmen, Organizer, Women Organizer, Youth Organizer and other pulling stations coordinators also confirmed.

Nana Amoanimaa Dede II, the Queen mother of Adansi Traditional Council who also spoke to Chukwu Joseph said, “As an astute leader, and an influential individual with such charisma who has helped both Adansi and Ghana while serving as Deputy Minister of Energy, we recall how he were able to provide access to electricity to about 95% of the entire population within Adansi.

Furthermore, during his term as Deputy Minister of Interior, he helped secure slots for the youth of Adansi to be recruited into the Ghana Police Service, Military, Immigration and many others, all for the love of Adansi.

He also provided scholarships for those who had an interest in education at all levels, and supported farmers in Adansi to receive farming equipment and produce free of charge she added”.

The Queen lastly said, “as a legal practitioner he stood as a proud descendant of Adansi and fought for the royalties belonging to Adansi Traditional Council which was locked up with government to be released. These selfless acts of service won him the title AdansimanNkosoɔhene with no objection from his opponents”.

Hon. Andrews Adu – Boahen, the President Nominee for DCE of AdansiAsokwa District Assembly speaking at his confirmation also said, “let me use this opportunity to commend my affable, dynamic and hardworking member of parliament Hon KT. Hammond for playing a pivotal role through lobbying for most of the developmental projects for execution by the assembly.

Hon. KT Hammond is currently a member of the Committee on Mines and Energy in Parliamentand also a Committee on Finance in Parliament.
