The Adanwomase Kente Weavers Association in the Ashanti Region has present a designed Kente cloth named ‘Osiadieyor Akufo-Addo’ to the President, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo as a sign of honor for fulfilling three of the major campaign promises he made to the people of Ghana in just one year in office as President.
The three promises, according to Kwame Nyame, Secretary to the Association are: the Free Senior High School (SHS), Restoration of Teacher and Nursing Trainee Allowances, and the Establishment of the office of the Special Prosecutor.
Kwame Nyame, who led members of the Association to the Jubilee House yesterday, indicated that the Free SHS policy and the Restoration of Teacher and Trainee nurses allowances are policies that brought great relief to parents, guardians, students and trainees and guarantee a better and brighter future of beneficiaries.
“We also believe that these policies will go a long way to pave way for needy but brilliant children/students to acquire quality education for a better future,” he said.
He said “On behalf of parents, guardians and trainees we say thank you Mr. President.”
He also averred that the establishment of the office of the Special Prosecutor which is being headed by Martin Amidu will no doubt prevent and fight the canker of corruption that has bedeviled the country over the years.
With all these achievements in less than two years in office, the Association decided to honour him and expressed the confidence that the President and his cabinet will continue working hard to fulfill all other promises including the ‘One district One factory,’ ‘One district One dam,’ promises.
They also described President Akufo-Addo as a visionary leader who will work hard to pursue the ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda and build a more self-reliant nation.
According to Kwame Nyame, the Kente industry is a vast industry that has the potentials of creating jobs for majority of the youth and appealed to the president to consider the Kente industry a viable sector to be included in the ‘One district One factory’ policy arrangement.
On his part, the President expressed gratitude for the presentation and assured them that the policies the NPP government is implementing are important for Ghana to move forward and to develop, hence his promises during the campaign period.
President Akufo-Addo is confident that his government will fulfill all the other promises he made to the people of Ghana in order to make Ghana a better place.
