Adukrom Presbyterian Senior High Technical School has been relieved of its long-standing water shortage crisis following a swift intervention from KGL Foundation, which provided two mechanized community water systems to supply the school’s boy and girl’s dormitory.
At Commissioning of the water projects that will end the difficulties students go through in accessing water,the headmistress of the school, Mrs. Mary Lomokie Amlalo explained that, the water will really be a lot of help to them since, prior to its construction, they endure two to three weeks closure of the pipe borne living them with no choice than to buy water for the students and its has been draining the school’s coffers.
Mrs. Lomokie added, the project would halt the water they have been buying and give students a stable mind to study and ease the pressure on the school.
The headmistress however used the opportunity and pointed out some other challenges confronting the school such as inadequate furniture for classrooms and dining hall and abandoned classroom block.
While appreciating KGL Foundation for their support, she appealed to other organizations into their aid since they are in dire need of support in other areas as well.
The Public Relations Officer for the KGL Foundation, Edwin Osmond Lamptey stated that, as an organization, their man is to support Ghanaians in areas they find themselves, hence the provision of the two boreholes for the boys and girls dormitory.
He revealed that, the Foundation is currently running a number of projects across the sixteen regions in the country and going into the future, they will be looking into other areas where they can offer support.
He also called on the government and Corporate Ghana for collaboration and support to be able to help others in terms of their needs.
The senior girls prefect of the Adukrom Presbyterian Senior High Technical School, Christiana Dansowa Sika Asante also described the project as the rescuer since they have been going through a lot ordeal in accessing to the extent of some of students used the situation to extort monies from their parents.
She said the dire situation affected the progress of academics in the school as students had to go and search for water before attending classes, which makes them late most times.
She also called for the improvement at the dormitories and the completion of abandoned classrooms.
The Chief Executive Officer for NAAVIQ COMPANY LTD, Victoria Naashika Quaye said they defied all odds to ensure that, the project is successful.
She entreated the school to ensure strong maintenance culture in order for the facilities to last longer.
