Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South-West, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, has strongly chastised President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SoNA), describing it as a “Manifesto Presentation” rather than a genuine assessment of the country’s state.
According to Elvis Dapaah, Mahama’s address was a clear indication that the president was not committed to solving the country’s problems within his four-year term.
Elvis Dapaah pointed out that Mahama’s address failed to address pressing issues such as the economy, unemployment, and the energy crisis.
Instead, the president focused on reading a manifesto that would take 20 years to implement.
This, Elvis Mensah Dapaah argues, is a clear indication that Mahama is not committed to solving the country’s problems within his four-year term.
The MP, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah noted that Mahama once stated that the country could not be governed within just four years, which his address seemed to confirm.
The MP also expressed disappointment that Mahama did not address the issue of illegal mining, which is allegedly being carried out by members of his party, resulting in the destruction of water bodies.
He argued that this is a critical issue that requires immediate attention, and Mahama’s failure to address it is a clear indication of his lack of commitment to solving the country’s problems.
Furthermore, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah criticized Mahama’s statement that he would not construct schools from the basic level again.
This, Dapaah argued, is disturbing, especially considering that his constituency is facing school block problems. Dapaah noted that this statement is a clear indication that Mahama is not committed to improving the country’s education sector.
Elvis Osei Dapaah also accused Mahama of reneging on his campaign promise to create jobs. Instead, Mahama has revoked the appointments of over 10,000 youth employed by the previous administration.
The MP argued that this is a clear indication that Mahama is not committed to solving the country’s unemployment problem.
In addition, Elvis Dapaah noted that the energy crisis, which the NPP did not create, is getting worse.
He pointed out that four transformers in his constituency have broken down, resulting in severe power outages. Dapaah argued that President John Mahama’s failure to address this issue is a clear indication of his lack of commitment to solving the country’s problems.
He also criticized Mahama for raising concerns about the funds left by the previous government to complete the Agenda 111 Hospital projects.
Elvis Dapaah argued that this is a clear indication that President John Mahama is not committed to completing the projects left by the President Akufo-Addo government.
Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah also called on Mahama to focus on fixing the critical issues facing the country rather than making excuses.
He urged the president to provide solutions to the country’s problems, rather than just reading a manifesto.
He also called on the members of the NPP to unite and rescue the country from the NDC’s failed promises.
He warned that time would soon expose the NDC’s lies and failures, and it is up to the NPP to provide a better alternative.
