The Akuapem South Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has been ranked as the overall best district in the 2020 District Performance Ranking (DPR) in the region, whiles YiloKrobo Municipal, in the same region, ranked as the lowest performance.
The Akuapem South Municipality which was 4th in the 2019 ranking, scored 86 percent in the recent DPR which has raised the Assembly to the apex of the 33 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Region.
Analysis indicated that, across the 33 districts in the region, 22 Assemblies had Scored above the regional average of 66.7 percent, whilst the remaining 11 Assemblies scores below, with YiloKrobo Municipal Assembly as the least ranking recording 35 percent.
In a section of the report outlining key observations and findings, five MMDA, including Asuogyaman, Fanteakwa South, Kwahu East, Fanteakwa North, and Okere were commended for practicing the post-contract evaluation, whilst 80 percent of the MMDAs in the region are not.
It was noted that issuance of completion of certificates to contractors upon completion of projects is not institutionalized in 6 MMDAs.
It was also observed that 90 percent of the MMDAs in the region have updated contracts registered in place, however, some Assemblies have not been making entries for some goods and service contracts.
The report also revealed that 45 percent of the MMDAs in the region showed the low commitment of IGF to capital projects.
Under sanitation, it was revealed that 99 percent of the MMDAs could not adduce any evidence of certified Open Defecation community in the district, stating, that Birim North certified two communities in the district.
With the percentages scored for the 33 MMDAs, Akuapem South placed on top with 86%, West Akim, 2nd with 82%, Fanteakwa South, 2nd with 82%, Okyere,4th with 80%, Achiase, 4th with 80%, Akuapem North,6th with 79%, Kwahu East/South, 7th with 78% each, Akyemansa 9th with 76%, Fanteakwa North, 9th with 76%, Kwahu West, 11th with 75%, Abuakwa North, 12th with 74%, Birim South/Central, 12th with 74% each.
The rest are New Juabeng North, 15th with 72%, Denkyembour, 15th with 72%, Asuogyaman, 17th with 71%, Nsawam Adoagyire,18th with 70%, Upper ManyaKrobo, 19th with 67%, Birim North, 20th with 65%, Atiwa East, 20th with 65%, Abuakwa South 22nd with 63%, Suhum, 23rd with 61%, Upper West Akim, 24th with 59%, New Juabeng South, 25th with 56%, Kwaebibirim, 26th with 55%, Lower ManyaKrobo, 27th with 54%, Atiwa West, 28th with 53%, Kwahu Afram Plains South, 29th with 52%, Kwahu Afram Plains North, 30th with 49%, AseneMansoAkoroso, 30th with 49% and Anyensuano, 32nd with 41% and YiloKrobo, 33rd with 35%.
This shows the overall declined in the performances of the MMDAs in the Eastern Region.
