Abusuapnayi of the Asakyiri Family of Akwane-Dobro, Nana Kwame Opare has disclosed that there is no chief in the area, and thus, described Nana Ekuyaw II, Known in private life as John Kwabena as a self-styled chief.
He said the area currently has no chief and the natives should disregard the claim by Nana Ekuyaw II as the chief of the area.
According to the Abusuapanyi, plans are far advanced to install a legitimate chief to run the affairs of the area.
“I enstooled John Kwabena as chief for the area but his autocratic leadership has disqualified him. He does not have any good thing to offer the good people of Akwane-Dobro” he disclosed.
He stated that the self-styled chief has been engaging in illegal sale of land and other properties belonging to individuals in Akwane-Dobro for his personal gains.
“The self-styled chief and his team of Machomen have persistently been attacking property owners in the area for their personal benefit” he stated.
“The Akropong Traditional Council has severally warned the self-styled chief to vacate his position but he has failed to adhere to the advice” the Abusuapanyi revealed.
Abusuapanyi Kwame Opare therefore called on the Nsawam District Police Commander, the Inspector General of Police to arrest and prosecute him.
“We believe in the rule of law and that is why we don’t want to put the law into our own hands by attacking him with our Men” he stated.
Meanwhile, when contacted, John Kwabena described the actions by the Abusuapanyi as unlawful and called on the general public to ignore him.
“The actions by the Abusuapanyi was due to his plans of selling lands illegally which I prevented him for the benefit of the entire people of the area”he disclosed.
He stated that he is still at post and urged the Abusuapanyi to use the right channels to distool him but not the media.
