Ace investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has come under fire following his recent expose titled “galamsey fraud”.
Anas who has for many years been hailed for his contribution in fighting corruption among other evil acts in the country and the world at a large has since the release of his recent galamsey expose been receiving attacks from several people.
Leading the attack are some prominent NPP activists led by Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Kennedy Agyepong, Gabby Otchere Darko, John Kumah among others.
Below are some of the statements by the above-mentioned personalities;
Mr. Antwi Boasiako affectionately called Chairman Wuntumi has descended heavily on Ghana’s undercover investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas over his latest work dubbed “Galamsey Fraud”, MyNewsGh.com reports.
Wontumi’s aide Mr. Andy Owusu was captured in the video allegedly receiving bribes from the undercover investigators to influence some underhand dealings which may have informed his anger.
It appears the NPP executives are not too happy about the development and on Accra-based Okay FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, they described the journalist as a ‘fraudster, thief and a nation wrecker’ who will stop at nothing but seek to destroy hardworking and innocent Ghanaians.
He expressed doubt about the credibility of Anas and called on the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Jnr. to call his boy to order before he collapses the country with the trend of happenings.
Wuntumi who in time past was alleged to be engaged in illegal mining was heard on the show saying “Anas is not credible – he has been doctoring all his interviews he has with victims to blackmail them… we are aware of his criminal activities…duping people and encouraging corruption for his own benefit.
“This is nonsense and must be stopped immediately. Anas is fake and I call on Kwaku Baako to do something about him. “I think Anas is an enemy and a Pharisee to the state”, an angry Wuntumi charged.
“And you haven’t also given anything to Bissiw. No, no. You can go to him and say Andy asked me to bring you this, that’s different. That will make him feel comfortable. But I don’t want you to say that you’ve given Bissiw money. Do you understand what I’m saying?” Andy warned. “And don’t also tell someone that you gave him something when you came here”, he said after our first meeting with
The outspoken Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has revealed some lands which he claims belongs to investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his boss Kweku Baako.
The outspoken member of parliament for assin central on different media platforms has said , Anas and his master Kwaku Baako have companies engaging in galamsey and have destroyed several lands.
“I have lots of pictures where lands and water bodies have been destroyed by illegal mining activities and these lands belong to Anas and his boss.
They are behind all this and it very sad how they are destroying Mother Ghana. Ghana has no future if we allow this to go on in this country.
Anas is not genuine and I have videos of his men in Operation Vanguard uniforms blackmailing people and taking monies from them”, he disclosed.
Kennedy Agyapong also stated that Anas collected some monies from the Chinese National and were killed three days later after they were interrogated by another Investigative Journalist.
Danqua Institute’s founder Gabby Otchere Darko says Anas “falsely” accused him of preying on female students at the University of Ghana’s Volta Hall way back in 2002, even though he is a fan of the investigative journalist.
In a write-up titled ‘Is Anas entertaining and winning?’, Mr Otchere-Darko expressed qualms about the entrapment method used by Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team and wondered whether his exposés have had any positive impact on the fight against corruption.
Mr Otchere-Darko’s concerns follows the release of Anas’ latest undercover work titled ‘Galamsey Fraud’, which caught a presidential staffer in a comprising position as far as the fight against illegal small-scale mining is concerned.
