…For Effective Monitoring, Surveillance
AVCONTECH Ghana Limited, a wholly owned Ghanaian company that is into surveillance and security has embarked on an exercise to donate security accoutrements to the Prisons Service, Police Service and other State security agencies to boost security.
The gesture is to help these institutions in intelligence gathering and conduct effective monitoring of activities within their premises.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Avcontech Ghana limited, Nana Kweku Ofori Atta said the donation was part of fulfilling his duty as a citizen to help government improve the security situation in the country.
According to him, he is a citizen and it is expected of him to help protect the integrity of the country by assisting certain agencies to tighten the security operations of the country.
Donating the security cameras to the prisons, police and others, Nana Kweku Ofori Atta said it is necessity to ensure that country’s security is tightened, adding that the CCTV Cameras would assist officers to monitor activities of criminals.
This is not the first time the company is making such donation. It has also donated CCTV Cameras and other gadgets to the police service for crime prevention and surveillance.
There has been a growing sense of insecurity over the past few months, where some security officers were shot by unknown assailants and suspected armed persons storming and freeing cell inmates.
In the wake of these lawless acts in the country, Mr. Atta believes the donation would go a long way in beefing up the security situation in the country.
He further called on the public to help support the cause of enhancing the security situation in the country.
“Private entities and government should assist me to be able to embark on this pilot exercise of surveillance systems in our country whereby we are going to ensure that our country is well built and well networked in terms of security, so that it can minimize corruption and the insecurities in our country,” he said.
However, Vice Chairman for Security and Defence Committee in Parliament, Hon. Collins Owusu Amankwa and the Director of Prisons Mr. Patrick Missah commended AVCONTECH for the gesture and believe that the donation will go a long way to assist in crime prevention and also aid the prison officers in their monitoring activities.
According to them, security is a shared responsibility and that since government alone cannot do it, corporate institutions and companies must come on board to assist government efforts.
