Dr. Dominic Ayine has provided damning details on the ongoing investigation into financial irregularities at the National Service Authority (NSA), disclosing that GHC 80 million out of GHC 189 million transferred through a Bank of Ghana account is currently untraceable.

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice explained that the scandal case, initially scheduled to be filed last week, was delayed due to the emergence of new evidence during the investigation.

“The National Service Authority scandal case was due to be filed last week. However, we stumbled upon evidence of malfeasance involving an account at the Bank of Ghana,” he said during the Government Accountability Series on Monday, July 28.

He revealed that “out of the GH¢189 million transferred, GH¢80 million cannot be traced,” raising fresh concerns about the depth of financial mismanagement within the institution.

Adding to the gravity of the findings, Dr. Ayine further disclosed that “two cheques linked to the former Director-General were used to withdraw just under GH¢2 million.”

As the case unfolds, the Attorney-General confirmed that eight individuals have approached his office to explore the possibility of plea bargains. These include three former officers of the National Service Authority.

Dr. Ayine assured the public that the wheels of justice would not be compromised. “No individual found culpable will be shielded from accountability,” he stated, stressing the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and responsibility in the handling of public funds.
