Two communities namely Dominibo No. 1 and Atronsu both within Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency in the Western North Region were full of happiness and joy when the mechanised borehole water projects in their respective communities were officially commissioned over the weekend.
The smiles and the noise from the people as soon as the water started flowing clearly shows the extent to which the people appreciated the project donated by Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng.
In a short remarks, Hon. Alfred Obeng-Boateng explained that water is one of the basic needs for the survival of mankind hence his determination and sacrifices to provide quality water for his constituents.
According to him, he had promised to provide 25 mechanised borehole water for twenty five communities and two had already been commissioned at Dominibo No. 2 and Nambro and we are commissioning another two today making a total of four.
He indicated that the cost of constructing one mechanised borehole is currently thirty-two thousand Ghana cedis (Ghs 32,000.00) and the total cost for all the Twenty-Five promised is Eight Hundred Thousand Ghana cedis (Ghs 800,000.00).
Hon. Obeng-Boateng noted that though the cost is high, however once he had promised he would work to deliver all the Twenty-Five before the end of his first term as a Member of Parliament for the constituency.
He further indicated that construction of the project at four communities have reached advance stages and hopefully commission would take place in April this year.
Nana Kwame Appiah II, the chief of Sefwi Atronsu who doubles as the Akwamuhene of Sefwi Bekwai Traditional Area thanked Hon. Obeng-Boateng for the kind guesture of providing the communities with quality water. Nana said that water is life so everybody who provides water should be seen as one who cares for life. Nana further advised Hon. Obeng-Boateng to continue living in the humble and respecful ways he had been living in the past that created more affection and love towards him. “The overwhelming and unprecedented votes with a margin of almost Eighteen Thousand (18000) votes over your main contender is an evidence that your humble and respectful nature, philanthropic activities, and willingness to help others were all appreciated and must be maintained” Nana Kwame Appiah II stressed.
At Dominibo No 1, Nana Gyakye Kwadjan II who is also the Nkondwasuafohene of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council thanked Hon. Obeng-Boateng on behalf of his town and noted that he never dreamt the constituency would one say get such a caring MP. Nana said that what he had see in Hon. Obeng-Boateng is so great that he sees him as a God sent and such people are only few in society so everyone should come on board to support his vision.
The constituency secretary Mr Joseph Halifax Amande also praised Hon. Obeng-Boateng for fulfilling his promisses and added that this would make 2024 election very easy for NPP in the constituency. He also pleaded with Hon. Obeng-Boateng to maintain his lifestyle and his leadership qualities that earned the party with such overwhelming victory which is historic in the Western North despite the skirt and blouse campaign that took place in the constituency during 2020 electioneering campaign. Mr. Amande thanked the party supporters and pleaded with them for their continue support and told them that he had no doubt of H. E. President Akufo-Addo involving the MP in the selection of the MCE and once the right MCE is appointed with our new visionary MP working together, their hopes and aspirations would be met.
