Members of the Omankrado Royal Family of Boso-Gua in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region are demanding investigations into allegations of Police brutalities in the communities which led to serious injuries among the indigenes.
They alleged that the police, the course of the invasion, forcefully removed the Omankrado Black Stool from the current location at the Abrewatia’s residence, breaching the customary rules and regulations surrounding the traditions rites of the people.
According to the family, a team of police officers from Accra invaded the township of Boso- with two vehicles and conducted an operation which resulted in the injury of one Alex Adade.
However, when the family confronted the Eastern Regional Police Command with this development about the officers’ presence, they were informed that no personnel had been dispatched from their unit. This raises serious concerns about external forces interfering in the family’s affairs.
The family has therefore called on the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu to conduct an urgent investigation to identify the officers who were involved and the senior official who authorized their action from Accra. For them, these unlawful interventions threaten the peace and stability of the community and should be addressed immediately.
