A 12-member Committee was yesterday inaugurated by the National Films Authority in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to ensure descent movies and adverts on our screens.
The main role of the Committee according to the authority, is also to ensure that movies and adverts in the country are good for public viewing and consumption.
The Committee which is chaired by Mr. Socrate Sarfo would help bring sanity to the Ghanaian movie industry.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chairman of the National Films Authority, Mr. David Dontoh, disclosed that the main brain behind the formation of the Committee was to educate movie producers on the need to ensure that movies produced are good for public viewing.
“The committee is going ensure that movies and adverts brings positive impact into the lives of the food people of Ghana,” he informed.
The Chairman also stated that the Committee would ensure that movies and adverts are broadcasted at the appropriate time in the interest of the Ghanaian populace.
On her part, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Barbara Ayisi, lauded the authorities of the National Films Authority for the initiative and was optimistic it would help the development of the country.
She cautioned members of the Committee to exhibit good sense of judgment and work hard to help achieve the purpose of the establishment of the Committee.
The Minister announced that government has over the years came out with several initiatives in its efforts of making the movie industry vibrant.
She seized the opportunity and advised parents to ensure that their children take their studies serious rather than watching television programs which has nothing to do with their education.
