A single story apartment under construction at Adenta Lakeside Estate has partially collapsed, endangering the lives of people living in and around.
On Wednesday, 28th July 2021, officials of The Adenta Municipal Assembly, AdMA, Visited the site to observe the situation and invited the owners of the facility to the Assembly for further discussions on how to deal with the situation.
Aggrieved residents however could not understand why that building should be allowed to stand when its owners have no permit to construct. Others say the land on which the building is being constructed is under litigation and that the owner is trying to FastTrack the construction before the final ruling so construction is usually done in the night to avoid detection hence the collapse.
“This building you see here is not in a good condition and must be pulled down. It was constructed with poor building materials and could further collapse. The contractors have no building permit and government must not allow them to continue to build since a further collapse could be fatal’, a resident stated.
‘The building is endangering our lives and any further collapse is likely uto cause death in our house. It is too close to our house and it can fall on people in our house when it collapses. We want government and the assembly to take action’, another resident stated. There are fears among residents that owners of the collapsed building could compromise officials of the Adenta Municipal Assembly to allow them continue with the construction of the weak facility.
They are therefore calling on the government to intervene and ensure that the laws are followed in the building process and the right thing done to provide safety forthem.
