The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua District in the Ashanti Region, William Yaw Darko, has accused the Baakoniaba Odikro of erecting a barrier in his community and illegally extorting monies from trucks that carry Wood logs from the Forest Reserves without the authorization from the Atwima Mponua District Assembly, a practice he claimed has gone on for years.
According to the DCE, the Odikro of Baakoniaba Nana Akwasi Owusu is hiding behind a group of youth activists within the district to tarnish his image and that he would not offer the Odikro that room to operate.
The DCE indicated that, the Assembly has executed numerous developmental projects within most of the communities of the district; including Baakoniaba.
He however cautioned the youth not to follow the diabolic plans of the chief and some elders who are making allegations against him.
It would be recalled that, Nana Kwasi Owusu I, who is the divisional Chief of Nyinahin Traditional Council and some of the queen mothers of the Nyinahin Traditional Council called on government not to maintain of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. William Yaw Darko in office.
According to Nana Akwasi Owusu I, Hon. William Yaw Darko does not respect the chiefs and queen mothers at their Traditional Council.
Meanwhile, Nana Akwasi Owusu I appealed to the Chairman to inform the Regional and National Chairman, Mr. Freddy Blay and Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako (Chairman Wintumi) that, they cannot work with Honourable William Yaw Darko, Atwima Mponua DCE.
He further explained that, their DCE is a total failure and must not be re-appointed.
