“…If anybody aspires to be a leader without command of the new technologies, like digitalization, and also without a deep grasp of geopolitics, I tell you, he may be a good man in terms of mastering some of the old disciplines like economics, politics and all that. But I tell you, it’s very likely he may be found wanting sooner than later. This young man here seems to have these instrument under his belt”- JAK Bears Witness

One of the remarkable testimonies that was given about the vice president and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, when he outlined his vision for the country last Wednesday, at the University of Professional Studies, (UPSA), was from the former president John Agyekum Kufuor, who extolled the vice president as the man of the moment.
The man with a lot of experience under his sleeves intimated that “…If anybody aspires to be a leader without command of the new technologies, like digitalization, and also without a deep grasp of geopolitics, I tell you, he may be a good man in terms of mastering some of the old disciplines like economics, politics and all that. But I tell you, it’s very likely he may be found wanting sooner than later. This young man here seems to have these instrument under his belt.”
He observed that Ghana is at a crossroads and, therefore, needs to elect a visionary leader such as Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the country in the December general election.
“Ghana has come to a crossroads and I’m serious here. It is not the normal regular politics we want: we want a leadership with a vision even in the complex world I have talked about, a leader that will be able to marshal the new technologies and pick the requisite manpower …” Kufour said.
He continued “We must get people of competence to work with him to find our way out of the confusion our society and economy has been plunged into – I wouldn’t blame any side.”
According to JAK is the former president is referred to, “This man is on a mission determined by destiny; please let’s all accept him to continue…we happen to be living in a time where the whole world is in flux; where quality leadership is very scarce.”
“We should be talking about the nation and not so much about the party. We must get competent people to work with him (Bawumia) to get us out (current challenges) …I’m appealing to the whole nation…I have a very strong feeling that he is the man of the moment and Ghana must accept him,” he added.
Kufuor said Bawumia has been a hard-working and loyal vice-president to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over the past eight years; therefore, he said, Ghanaians must give him a chance.
