The Minister of Health and Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa Central, Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu has come under intense pressure from his constituents who are accusing him of doing very little in his 12 years in parliament as MP.
While Hon. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, is trying to get some reprieve from the public shaming he suffered during the COVID-19 outbreak, his core supporters are now revolting against his ‘poor” performance as Member of Parliament.
Constituents have condemned the Dormaa Central legislator of dishonesty and non- performance.
A constituent leader and an NPP voting station executive, popularly known as Master Planner led a team of party executives to launch a campaign against the MP accusing him of incompetence.
In an open letter, the group of executives claimed that after the MP squandered 12 years in parliament with nothing to show for , the minister pledged to build many roads in the constituency by 2020.
According to the letter, the MP informed his constituents that various projects in Dormaa Ahenkro, including Aboabo, Twumkrom- Koradaso roads, CHPS compounds, and the Accident and Emergency Unit, had been contracted.
He informed them that one of the project’s contractors had contracted malaria and would be returning to the site soon.
However, two years later, the roads are in poor condition, and health care services are nowhere to be found. Constituents are urging the minister and MP to quit in order rescuing his shattered reputation.
The letter stated that, “Our elders advise that if you wish to request your father, go to him on the day when he is available. It is for this reason, Honorable, that I have decided to write to you today.”
“…We first heard radio advertisements on our numerous Dormaa Ahenkro radio stations in the last quarter of 2020, mentioning a yet-to-be- launched road project as completed roads, better pits, and asphalted.
Honorable, we overheard you say on live radio that the contractor assigned to work on the Aboabo roads contracted malaria while visiting his homeland of Israel. However, you stated that the Aboabo roads will be finished before the 2020 elections, persuading the electorate to support both you and your presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections.”
“This gave us all a sense of comfort because out roads had been in a bad shape for a long time and had been a major source of anxiety and concerns for commuters, causing them numerous problems.”
They averred that all these promises have not seen the light of day and all indications have pointed to the fact that the MP has deceived them and toyed with their conscience for far too long.
They have resolved to ensure that the MP is not elected again as the MP for the constituency since they want development and are willing to work with an MP who has the interest of the constituency at heart.
