Mrs Rebecca Aboagye Sarpong withdraw from the elections in the last minute citing various reasons for her decision which many party members think is a face-saving move from an impending electoral defeat.
The event happened at the party’s delegates congress held in Frankfurt, Germany on Saturday 28th May 2022 which saw over 500 party members clad in party colours and paraphernalia congregating to elect a new set of executives to man the affairs of the Branch for the bext 4 years.
It would be recalled that Dr Yamoah, Ruth Lindenberger who was also voted overwhelmingly to become the first female youth organiser of the branch, and three others were tipped for a massive win by a group of political researchers called PRONG.
Other individuals elected to various positions were Benson Brenya Francis, Nana Benyin Enninful, Mohamed Awal Faharideen and Enoch Kobina Ewusi-Saah for 1st vice chairman, organiser, nasara coordinator, and treasurer respectively.
In his victory speech, the astute cardiologist called for unity as he stated “as the process winds up today, I implore all of us to treat the events prior to today as bygones and chart a new path of bridging bridges and unification so that we concentrate our energies to ensure our collective vision to break the 8 becomes a reality.”
He recommitted himself to his promises during his campaign. To a rousing applause he intimated “today, I am here to reaffirm my absolute commitment to achieve these promises and more.” According to him, “the combined effect of these projects and many others we shall do, will be to assist the NPP break the eight.”
