There was drama at the entrance of the Methodist Church in Kade, a suburb in the Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly, in the Eastern region, which hosted the inauguration of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the area on Monday, when the destooled chief of Kade, Kwame Apau, together with an entourage tried to forcefully enter the venue.
Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II, as embattled chief was referred to before his destoolment, had stormed the venue of the inauguration of the newly elected Assembly members when the police stopped him in his track at the entrance; that he could not be allowed to enter the premises because he was not invited.
New Crusading GUIDE’s scouts on the ground who filmed all that transpired narrated that the chief took umbrage over the news from the Police Commander and insisted that he, together with his entourage would enter the hall and no one could stop them.
As the trade in words heightened to the level of creating tension, the Police, which had cordoned off the venue to prevent the destruction of life and property by the refuse-to-go chief and his followers called for reinforcement.
Tenadu and his people were heard ranting that “he (referring to Tenadu) will enter the premises because he is the chief of the town. You cannot stop the chief from entering even if he does not have an invitation.”
The embattled chief was also heard giving the Commander an order to bring out all the Assembly member from Kade for him to address them. Then he changed his story that he was there to escort the Assembly member from Kade to their inauguration and swearing in.
Later in the day, Kwame Apau accused the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Officer of the Kwaebibirem Municipal Assembly, Seth Kwame Antwi Boasiako, as the one who ordered the police to stop him from entering the venue of the inauguration.
Expressing worry of the incidence, the Kade Chief, Osabarima Agyare Tenadu II, alleged that the MCE and the Police as acted unlawfully.
“As a law-abiding citizen it took me over an hour to convince my elders and the teeming youth of Kade to avoid putting the law into their own hands by retaliating to the unlawful actions against me by the MCE and the police officials,” he stated.
Osabarima Tenadu II described the MCE’s attitude as a total gross disrespect to his chieftaincy status, which he said would negatively affect the development as well as the peace and unity among the good people in the town.
Meanwhile, Seth Kwame Antwi Boasiako, denied knowledge of the incident when this paper called him to respond to the allegations yesterday.
He said he only learnt of the incident yesterday and would ensure that peace would prevail amongst the feuding factions in the area.
The New Crusading GUIDE gathered that of the 66,257 candidates who contested in the district assembly elections held in December last year, 18,755 were assembly member candidates, while 47,502 were unit committee candidates according to statistics sourced from the Electoral Commission.

For the unit committee members, 31,075 were elected out of the 47,502, given that each electoral area had five-unit committee members.
