The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa Nsuaem Hon. George Mireku Duker last Monday 7 October 2024, rallied thousands of responsible small-scale miners within communities in Tarkwa Nsuaem, Subin Afianfiso and Upper Denkyira West Municipalities in support of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Addressing the various mining communities separately at different times on the same day, Hon. Duker reiterated the government’s commitment to continue promoting responsible mining to create more jobs.
He alleged that the NDC was behind the politically-motivated threat of demonstration which seems to ban responsible small-scale mining.
Again, he added that the NPP shall not ban responsible mining but rather deepen efforts to protect water bodies and responsible mining.
Furthermore, he indicated that Dr. Bawumia has the best mining policies for the future which seems to establish minerals development Bank to aid miners, invest in geological investigation to make areas available for small-scale mining, fashion-out a comprehensive plan to tackle environmental impact of Mining and many others.
The miners on their part took turns to applaud the campaign message of the NPP called for more community mining schemes.
They also assured the Tarkwa Nsuaem MP that they were going to vote massively for him as well as Dr. Bawumia and the NPP at large in the 2024 elections.
