The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has appeared before the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to provide information on an alleged GH¢4 million bribe attempt.
Mr Kotey’s appearance follows his recent revelation that he rejected a GH¢4 million bribe purportedly offered to him to halt the rollout of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.
In a media interview earlier this month, he disclosed that certain influential individuals had tried to persuade him to abandon the digital plate initiative, which seeks to combat vehicle-related fraud and enhance road safety.
He was seen leaving the OSP premises after the engagement but declined to speak to journalists, saying he would comment at a later date.
The OSP, in a statement, confirmed that it had invited the DVLA boss to verify his claims and assist in identifying those allegedly behind the bribery attempt.
