The head of Ekua Oyee family of Dedeiman, Abusuapanyin Okyere Gyaba, is warning the general public to refrain from doing business with the Chief of Dedeiman, Nana Oppong Odei I, in relation to their 703-acre land.
In a follow-up statement to clarify issues on the said track of land at Dedeiman, Abusuapanyin Gyaba, stated that it had come to the notice of the family that, the Chief was wrongfully dealing with people on their behalf, without authorization.
Following the Accra High Court, Land Division, Land Court One ruling on March 23, 2020 in suit no. LD/ 0761/2018 that granted the Ekua Oyee Family right to the 703 Acre land situated at Dedeiman, against claims by the Mpere family, the Ekua Oyee Family came out to disown Nana Oppong Odei I as its representative.
Abusuapanyin Gyaba maintains that the family hasn’t assigned him any responsibility to hold fort for them, thus no one should deal with him.
“We would like to inform the general public that we haven’t given Nana Oppong Odei I, Chief of Dedeiman, any right to represent us in any matter. So, anyone who deals with him, does so at their own risk,” he insisted.
He directed the public to contact him for any further information or clarifications on matters relating to the court ruling to avoid being misled or shortchanged.
The Accra High Court, Land Division, Land Court One ruled on March 23, 2020 in suit no. LD/ 0761/2018 that the Ekua Oyee Family was the right owners of a 703 Acre land situated at Dedeiman, against claims by the Mpere family.
However, in a publication on the matter, Nana Oppong Odei I, chief of Dedeiman, held himself out as the representative of the Ekua Oyee family.
That didn’t go down well with the family members who, through Abusuapanyin Okyere Gyaba, are cautioning the public against dealing with him in matters relating to the land under discussion.
“The Ekua Oyee Family has taken serious exception to that misrepresentation and would make use of all legal means available to stop Nana Oppong Odei I from holding himself out as such.” The family warned in a rejoinder.
The family said it was putting measures in place to ensure that its rights are not in any way alienated by any person who has no locus in its affairs.
Dedeiman is a village in the Ga West Municipal Assembly of the Greater Accra region of Ghana, with a population between 2,000 and 3,000.
The Ekua Oyee and Mpere families have been fighting over who has rights over the 703 acres of land within the Dedeiman Township, leading to the ruling by the Accra High Court.
