The heated showdown between Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi over the alleged GH¢22 billion GoldBod/Bank of Ghana losses has taken a dramatic turn, with Mr Gyamfi mounting a fierce defence of GoldBod and challenging the Minority Leader to produce evidence backing his claims.
Mr Gyamfi, popularly referred to as the “Golden Boy,” insists that the IMF report does not blame GoldBod for the reported losses, challenging Mr Afenyo-Markin to identify where exactly the report makes such an attribution.
He has further accused the Minority Leader of attempting to extort him through a campaign designed to damage his reputation—an allegation Mr Afenyo-Markin has rejected and indicated he would pursue through the appropriate legal channels.
The exchange has transformed what began as a debate over public financial losses into a broader credibility battle.
For Mr Gyamfi, the issue is simple: produce the IMF evidence or withdraw the allegation.
With the “Golden Boy” refusing to retreat, the controversy has now placed Mr Afenyo-Markin’s claims—and his credibility—under intense public scrutiny.
